In the autumn, Companies House will make it compulsory for all Director’s & people who are a Person of significant control, to verify their identity.

It is recommended to start the process sooner but will become a legal requirement in the autumn 2025.

This can be done online via creating a Gov.uk One Login or at a post office.

You will need a form of photo ID to verify your identity with Companies House. If you do not have this, you may be able to be certified with your bank details instead.

Here is the link for you to begin the process, which also contains guidance to help you complete it:

Once you have verified your identity with Companies House, you will be given a unique identifier, known as a Companies House personal code. You will need to keep this code safe, to connect your verified identity to their records & will need to provide this code for future filings to Companies House. We will also need a copy of this code.

We understand more guidance will be released nearer the time & we will update our website with this information.

If you have any queries on the process, please call Companies House, on 0303 1234 500
