The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, or furlough scheme, has now been extended until March 2021. Employees who are to be placed on furlough or are to continue being furloughed, will be paid 80% of their usual monthly wage for November & December, for hours not worked, up to a maximum of £2,500,– this percentage is on par with the furlough amount from when the scheme first began in March, so Employers are no longer required to top up wages. Furloughed staff, can either be furloughed completely, or can be placed on flexible furlough, where they are paid by their Employer for hours worked & the Government will pay 80% of their remaining unworked hours - this percentage will be reviewed in January. The employer will need to meet the cost of any Employer's national insurance and pension contributions.
