As of 1st October the national minimum wage is increasing. The new rates are:

21 and over £6.70 per hour

18 to 20 £5.30 per hour

Under 18 £3.87 per hour

Apprentice £3.30 per hour

Employers must also be mindful of the new living wage that will be introduced in 2016 - the intention being to increase the new living wage to £9 per hour for over 25s by 2020.
